NOLA Concrete Coatings

About

A Referral Service for Concrete Coatings in New Orleans

We connect New Orleans homeowners and businesses with a licensed local concrete coatings installer. We don't do the work — we route your request to one contractor who does.

How it works

  1. You call or send a request. Tell us what the floor is — garage, shop, patio, kitchen — roughly how big, what is on it now, and the finish you have in mind.
  2. Your request goes to one installer. Not a list, not an auction. One local contractor who does this work gets your details and contacts you.
  3. They look at the slab and quote it. The site visit, the price, the contract, the schedule, and any warranty are between you and them. You are free to say no and to get other bids.

What we are, and what we are not

NOLA Concrete Coatings is a referral service. It does not grind, coat, seal, or price floors, and it does not supervise anyone who does. It also does not rate or rank contractors. The pages on this site explain how the work is done and what it tends to cost, so you can talk to an installer with a clear idea of what to ask for.

What we ask of an installer

The standards a request is routed against:

  • Holds the state and local licenses the job requires, and carries insurance.
  • Prepares concrete by grinding or blasting, not acid etching alone.
  • Tests slab moisture before choosing a primer, and says what the reading was.
  • Gives cure times for foot traffic and vehicles in writing.
  • Puts the quote in writing, broken out the way the next section describes.

Why the quote structure matters

A written quote worth comparing lists four things as separate lines: prep, repair, the coating system, and the finish.

  1. 1PrepThe method (diamond grinding or shot blasting), the moisture test, and any moisture-tolerant primer that test calls for.
  2. 2RepairCrack and spall repair, removal of an old coating or sealer, and whether that number is fixed or an allowance the crew settles once the floor is opened up.
  3. 3Coating systemThe chemistry, the number of coats, and the total mil thickness, not just a product name.
  4. 4FinishSolid color, flake, or metallic; the topcoat; and the return-to-service windows for foot traffic and for vehicles.

With those four lines on paper, you can hold any bid — from the installer we route you to or anyone else — up against another and see what is different.
